Zombie Roadkill
Yup, here comes my random horror influence thrown into every article I write – it’s my genre, I have to!
This one isn’t too weird though, as zombies are all the rage these days, and Zombie Roadkill is one of my favorite web-series type productions I’ve ever seen throughout the horror genre.
Distributed by FEARnet and produced by Ghost House Pictures (Evil Dead/Drag Me To Hell), Zombie Roadkill is literally about what the title suggests.
While driving down a suspicious road, a group of teenagers run over a squirrel and crash in the woods, leaving most of them injured. The squirrel however seems to be just fine – after it’s brought back to life as an undead little monster by the cursed road. Ranger Chet Masterson (Thomas Haden Chruch) does his best to protect the kids as they fend off hordes of flattened street-meat, but will the zombie roadkill prove to be more than a handful of forest baddies?
Although the web series has a final conclusion, developing this project into a campy B-Movie would be a horror treat right about now. So much of the same garbage is being churned out month after month, with the same dismal results, and something proven like Zombie Roadkill would be a welcome addition to my DVD collection if adapted with the same attention to dark comedy and random acts of adorably disgusting violence.
