Todd Farmer’s Ghost Rider: Riders On The Storm
I’m going straight with a script on this one because I’m not asking for another Ghost Rider sequel outright. Both adaptations were worthless, as much as I love Neveldine and Taylor, but neither were able to balance story, dark humor, and action respectably. Sadly though, yet another crappy sequel isn’t out of the question based on box office numbers.
Ghost Rider, despite atrocious critical responses, pulled in $228,738,393 worldwide on a $110,000,000 budget, technically making it a profitable success. Ghost Rider 2: Spirit of Vengeance saw monetary success as well, coming up with $132,563,930 worldwide on a $57,000,000 budget, but saw an even worse critical response. Hell, do you think the studios care though? Don’t be surprised if yet another Ghost Rider movie blazes a trail into theaters, albeit without Nic Cage if we’re to believe recent comments made by the reputably loony actor.
So what am I proposing a Kickstarter for?
Easy – so someone can make Todd Farmer’s (Drive Angry/My Bloody Valentine) trashed treatment for his sequel titled Ghost Rider: Riders On The Storm, and bring a little dignity back to such a devilish Marvel character. Farmer’s treatment is overly-violent, bloody, brutal, sinister, and emphasizes Ghost Rider’s action – which is exactly why studios passed on it. I mean just listen to how he describes even the henchmen in his treatment: “These guys are like some kind of rogue militia inbred with a cult of Satan fuckers. Bad-asses… each baring the zodiac brand.”
I’d rather you read Farmer’s treatment and understand just why I love the material so much, but essentially Johnny Blaze has to collect the skulls of previous Ghost Riders before his nemesis does to stop an evil plot, yadda yadda, but the life and creative possibilities Farmer proposes make his treatment too damn intriguing for those who want a real Ghost Rider film.
Todd Farmer, get yourself a Kickstarter for this project. Ghost Rider needs you. The action/horror community needs you. But you know who needs you most of all? A pussified Hollywood. See for yourself and read the treatment!
Low Level Incentive: Ghost Rider Paraphernalia
