As promised, Lionsgate has lifted the lid on the bombastic new trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, which sees Jennifer Lawrence reprise her role as the titular symbol and rally the entire nation of Panem against the malevolent President Snow.
Preparing you, the viewer, for the ultimate chapter, the sizzle reel teases closure for Katniss Everdeen and Co., as the uprising employ guerrilla tactics to battle out of the long-forgotten District 13 and toward the Capitol. Standing alongside Lawrence’s heroine are Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (Sam Claflin) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), as they look to overthrow Snow’s tyrannical reign once and for all.
For those who want to go into Francis Lawrence’s finale without knowing anything, we’d really advise against watching the latest trailer for Mockingjay – Part 2, as it leaves no stone unturned in drumming up excitement for the film’s arrival in a little over a month’s time. We wouldn’t want to spoil the 76th Hunger Games now, would we?
Joining Lawrence for the ride into Panem are Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Willow Shields, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Julianne Moore, Mahershala Ali, Natalie Dormer, Wes Chatham, Elden Henson and Evan Ross.
Francis Lawrence will aim to send the Mockingjay out with pride when The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 brings the curtain down on Lionsgate sprawling post-apocalyptic series on November 20.
With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss confronts President Snow [Donald Sutherland] in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale [Liam Hemsworth], Finnick [Sam Claflin] and Peeta [Josh Hutcherson] – Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit from District 13 as they risk their lives to liberate the citizens of Panem, and stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games.
