A standout scene from ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ finds the MCU fandom in agreement for once

There's no denial to be found here.

Before Quantumania hit the fan, the Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom found themselves on either side of the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever debate once the Phase Four high point made its Disney Plus debut. Admittedly, we’re not quite sure how the film’s apparently lackluster CGI wasn’t immediately recognized on the big screen, so we have half a mind to chalk this up to the internet not having many hobbies outside of complaining.

Nevertheless, Wakanda Forever‘s small screen campaign was just another in a long line of divisive subjects that MCU fans couldn’t find common ground on. That being said, there is one aspect that has managed to do the impossible and unite r/marvelstudios on the untouchable fact of Okoye’s badassery.

The original poster challenged the subreddit to cast their minds back to the Talokan attack on the bridge, where Okoye was forced to defend an unconscious Shuri and Riri with nothing but her mad grit and explosive strength. Given that her multiple opponents were markedly stronger than humans, and warriors like herself at that, the fact that she still managed to hold her own is a testament to her status as the MCU’s resident alpha.

One user attributed a portion of Okoye’s screen/combat presence to Danai Gurira’s masterful handling of the character; it’s one thing to be undeniably powerful, but it’s quite another to channel that power through personality alone.

It may just be one scene in a sea of content, but perhaps that just underlines Okoye’s unique ability to unite the un-uniteable, and defeat the undefeatable.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is available to stream on Disney Plus.
