In 2025, a new Superman film will finally grace screens when Superman: Legacy debuts. While Snyderman losers are not happy about Henry Cavill’s exit, casting rumors for the project are heating up and, surprisingly, two brothers may be in contention for Lex Luthor. As a result, among those who care and are not crazy, there is now a debate about if Alex or Bill Skarsgård is supreme.

To begin with, it should be noted decisions behind the scenes on a movie can change on a dime or even when something is shooting. So, while neither of the pair are in place as the bald billionaire right now, it could happen and they could exit later when cameras begin capturing the James Gunn-helmed story. As well, tastes are subjective, so, with this in mind and knowing the pair’s hold on the role is tenuous without a contract, one must look to data on their previous projects for some sense of their actor quality.

On Rotten Tomatoes, Bill Skarsgård has 20 films to his name alongside four fictional television projects. His highest-rated work is John Wick: Chapter 4 with a 94 percent score and his lowest-rated is The Divergent Series: Allegiant with an 11 percent rotten rating. Out of all his projects with scores, there are only four with rotten ratings, 12 do not have scores and with the exception of Naked Singularity in 2021, his last eight films going back to 2018 have been hits with both critics and the site’s audience raters.

On the other side of the coin, Alexander Skarsgård’s Rotten Tomatoes profile lists more than 50 projects across television and film. The other Skarsgård has been acting for longer and by nature has built up a larger resume, but also does have more rotten projects to his name, too. Of the pieces on his resume which have scores, 11 have rotten assessments. To be fair though, like his brother, the last seven films he has been in going back to 2019 have been critically acclaimed, though when it comes to the highest-rated work, Alexander has not hit higher peaks than his turn with The Diary of a Teenage Girl comedy drama which came out to 95 in 2015.

So, when it comes to the question of just who is better, the answer appears to be a wash at this time. Both appear to have similar careers and levels of talent, and, if it comes down to them and them alone for the role, James Gunn just may have to toss a coin. He could also not feature the character and go with a villain never seen before, but, these days, fan service counts the most of all.
