How can you not love Amanda Seyfried? She’s beautiful, talented and possesses a wonderful singing voice. The adorable Les Misérables actress has recently entered negotiations to star in Noah Baumbach’s While We’re Young, and we couldn’t be happier. This could be just what Seyfried needs, as her career seems to be stuck as of late. Not ruined, mind you — it just doesn’t seem to be moving forward. She failed to secure any individual award nominations for her part in Les Misérables, while her other starring roles went unnoticed.
Noah Baumbach, however, is still a prominent director with much to offer, and he appears to have evolved as a filmmaker due to his recent collaborations with actress/screenwriter Greta Gerwig — Greenberg and Frances Ha. Baumbach is currently quite busy promoting the latter, but pre-production on While We’re Young is slated to start as soon as he’s available.
Adam Driver, Naomi Watts and Ben Stiller are also attached to star in the aforementioned movie. The story follows a married couple (played by Stiller and Watts) that forms an unforeseen friendship with a much more liberal and free-spirited younger couple (Diver and Seyfried). It has also been revealed that Seyfried’s character makes ice cream at home.
Baumbach has been planning this project for years, even before he started working on Greenberg, and I’m glad he’s finally finding the time and funding to go through with it, and I’m more than joyous to see Naomi Watts and Amanda Seyfried onscreen. I’m not so sure about Stiller and Driver, but I guess they’ll do just fine — Baumbach previously worked with Stiller on Greenberg, in which the comedian was practically flawless as the neurotic title character, therefore I’m pretty excited about While We’re Young.
Seyfried has a voice role in the upcoming animated movie Epic, and is currently filming scenes for Seth MacFarlane’s A Million Ways To Die in the West.
