Amy Seimetz Cast As Female Lead In Pet Sematary Remake

What with even the most obscure, microscopic instalments of Stephen King’s oeuvre being sold off at an alarming rate, it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to decipher which “Master of Horror” adaptation to keep tabs on at the moment. That said, apart from Andy Muschietti’s IT: Chapter Two, there is one reworking you should be keeping an eye on, Pet Sematary.

What with even the most obscure, microscopic installments of Stephen King’s oeuvre being sold off at an alarming rate, it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to decipher which Master of Horror adaptation to keep tabs on at the moment. That said, apart from Andy Muschietti’s IT: Chapter Two, there is one reworking you should be keeping an eye on, Pet Sematary.

Helmed by Starry Eyes co-directors Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch, based on a screenplay written by Jeff Buhler and David Kajganich, the remake of Pet Sematary, which was scheduled to start shooting last month in Toronto, just added another piece to the production.

Having cast Dawn of the Planet of the Apes star Jason Clarke in the part of Louis Creed, who was portrayed by Dale Midkiff in the original 1989 film, Deadline is now reporting that Alien: Covenant’s Amy Seimetz has landed the female lead. Seimetz, who remains busy both in front of (Stranger Things) and behind the camera (Atlanta: Robbin’ Season), will play the mother of a child who gets caught up in the sinister cemetery.

For those unfamiliar with the source material, it follows the Creed family as they move to a small town in the Northeast which borders a cemetery enabling the buried to return. Head of the family, Louis Creed, thinks it’s far better to bring his loved ones back from the dead as murderous simulacra than let them rest in peace.

Slated for release on April 19th, 2019, Paramount Pictures is seemingly rushing the remake of Pet Sematary in front of the cameras, which isn’t a good sign for admirers of Stephen King’s oeuvre. Regardless, jumping to conclusions at such an early stage would be a tad premature, especially seeing as specifics on the production are scarce at the moment. But as soon as we learn more, we’ll be sure to let you know.
