Robopocalypse is shaping up rather nicely. For one thing, the project just landed producer Tom Rothman, the former 20th Century Fox chairman. Not bad, right? There’s also Chris Hemsworth in the lead role, another nice acquisition. Finally, the film has Mr. Spielberg at the helm. So all in all, things are looking very positive.
If all that wasn’t good enough, today we can tell you that the film has landed one more asset as Anne Hathaway is likely to sign on in the female lead.
For those unfamiliar with the film, which was adapted by Drew Goddard from Daniel H. Wilson’s book, it takes place “in the near future where robots are a part of everyday human life…until a sentient artificial intelligence underneath the ice in Alaska programs them to kill.”
With production set to get underway next year, and an April 25th, 2014 release date set up, we should have more details soon. As of now though, there’s no word on who Hathaway will be playing.
Even without further details, the pairing is pretty exciting. Hathaway and Hemsworth, two of the hottest young actors in Hollywood, teaming up to lead a big budget sci-fi film, from director Steven Spielberg.
What can go wrong? In my eyes, nothing.
What do you think though? Do you want to see Anne Hathaway join Robopocalypse?
