All the chatter and focus right now when it comes to Marvel is surrounding Captain Marvel and Avengers 4, and understandably so. After all, both films are set to premiere trailers this week and they’re the two films in line to release next from the House of Ideas. But that doesn’t mean some folks aren’t still thinking about Avengers: Infinity War and who else might’ve survived Thanos’ devastating Snap.
In fact, just a few days ago, The Cosmic Quest Vol. 2: Aftermath, a tie-in comic for the movie, revealed that both Dr. Selvig and Darcy were still alive and now, thanks to the same comic, we’ve learned that their friend Jane Foster, as played by Natalie Portman in Thor and Thor: The Dark World is still around, too. That doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll see her in Avengers 4, or even see her again at any point in a future MCU movie, but it’s good to hear that she’s managed to make it through the Snap of Doom in one piece.
After all, the Russo brothers have hinted at her return in the past, and we already know that Avengers 4 will involve the Quantum Realm, which was previously seen pretty prominently in the Ant-Man movies. Not only that, but quantum things are a particular area of expertise for Jane and though Portman didn’t leave the franchise on the best of terms, she’s also suggested that she wouldn’t be completely opposed to returning.
For now, though, all we can do is speculate. But with Jane Foster confirmed to still be alive and out there somewhere, it at least keeps the chances of her making another appearance open and with any luck, Avengers 4 might give us some hints about what her, Dr. Selvig and Darcy are up to. If it doesn’t actually feature them in some small role, that is.
