If Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige is right in saying that the MCU’s female heroes will soon outnumber their male counterparts, then we can very much count Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne among the franchise’s leading ladies.
She’s about to take point for Ant-Man and the Wasp (“it’s about damn time”) and already, Lilly is very much looking forward to her next appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Exactly when that’ll occur is another question entirely though, as the overriding consensus appears to be that Hope Van Dyne will succumb to the effects of Thanos’ genocide just as Ant-Man and the Wasp nears its conclusion. It would be an efficient, if devastating way for Marvel Studios to segue into Avengers 4, by which point Scott Lang is expected to rub shoulders with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes once more – the only difference being that, unlike Civil War, the Avengers will be united against a common enemy.
Regardless of how things pan out, though, Evangeline Lilly is simply excited to be along for the ride, as once the actress had wrapped Ant-Man and the Wasp, she was already raring for round two.
I have been thinking the exact same thing, and now that it’s finally done and dusted, now that I’ve seen the movie and I can kind of, ‘Whew,’ like, ‘I did it. It’s over.’ Now, the immediate question is ‘when do I get to do it again?’
Expect Ant-Man and the Wasp to scurry into U.S. theaters in time for July 6th (two weeks, people!), where the Marvel sequel is looking to collect around $75M over its opening weekend.
