What better way to experience Ant-Man and the Wasp than to watch it immediately after the first film?
That’s the thinking behind Marvel’s next double bill, which allows viewers to catch Peyton Reed’s original sleeper hit just before Ant-Man and the Wasp scurries into theaters this weekend.
Unlike recent installments in the MCU (see: Black Panther and Infinity War), there’s been no mention of an Opening Night Fan Event, but those who attend Marvel’s doubleheader at Regal Cinemas and other major theater chains will still be able to collect an MCU-themed coin. As a matter of fact, it’s that same gilded collectible that Ant-Man and the Wasp use as a giant, protective shield in this newly-released poster for the MCU’s third and final release of 2018.
And while common knowledge dictates that these things tend to go out with a bang, in the case of Ant-Man and the Wasp, Marvel’s latest is about to cap off the studio’s 2018 slate with a miniaturized burst of personality and larger-than-life humor.
On the box office front, Ant-Man and the Wasp is reportedly destined to hit $80M during its opening weekend in North America. Analysts have cautioned that that figure may climb higher still, as positive buzz and overall excitement begins to move the needle ever so slightly in Marvel’s favor.
It’s still a significant jump from the first film ($57M), of course, and further proof that even after 20 mainline installments, the Marvel Cinematic Universe shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon – not now, and perhaps not ever. Ant-Man and the Wasp graces U.S. theaters this Friday, July 6th.
