The release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania on streaming has been a long time coming; longer than any other MCU film thus far. Unfortunately for Marvel, this apparently wasn’t long enough, and its hopes that a fresh look at the movie would turn the hate-filled tide around are currently being dashed.
As we’ve seen with previous releases, watching a film from the comfort of home instead of a giant screen has the ability to see popular opinion turn a full 180 degrees. Thor: Love and Thunder, for example, saw negative reviews skyrocket after its own Disney Plus release, while Eternals started climbing its way up to not-that-bad status. Perhaps, Marvel thought, giving Quantumania some room to breathe following its theatrical debut could allow for something similar to happen, but when the time finally came, fans were quick to double down on previous criticisms.
Now, though, the situation is being taken a step further, as even those who enjoyed the film on first viewing are changing their minds. On Twitter, the discussion surrounding the topic is prominent, as more and more fans notice this phenomenon.

Now Rewatching on Disney+, It’s Even Worse and I Don’t Know What Happened to Myself While Watching This Mid Film
In addition to this whole disaster, Marvel is now being pushed into a corner, as Quantumania‘s streaming debut renews conversations about the MCU’s latest controversial hot topic: Kang the Conqueror actor Jonathan Majors. The assault allegations against the Creed III star are still fresh in the public’s minds and despite Marvel’s best efforts to deal with the situation, it keeps coming back up. Granted, the effort seems very minimal, considering the company appears to be avoiding any talks of it and pretending the issue is nonexistent.
Did the people pulling the strings assume fans would just forget about the subject if given enough time? Because it sure seems like it. Unfortunately for them, delaying the movie’s Disney Plus release did little in that regard. The fans might leave a topic alone when something new comes along (like a new Guardians movie), but they rarely forget. Now, all of the aforementioned elements have combined, making it exactly the opposite of what Marvel likely envisioned for this streaming debut. Better luck next time.
