At 89 percent after 64 reviews, Ant-Man and the Wasp has officially been rated ‘fresh’ by Rotten Tomatoes, and is now the 20th MCU movie to achieve such a feat over the past 10 years.
That’s pretty remarkable, given Ant-Man and the Wasp is also the twentieth installment in the franchise thus far, and therefore extends Marvel’s red-hot streak into 2019, by which point audiences will be flocking to see Captain Marvel, the fourth Avengers movie, and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Barring some unforeseen hiccup(s), we imagine that triple act will be able to maintain Marvel’s record when the time comes, but for Ant-Man and the Wasp, Rotten Tomatoes’ official review round-up deemed the Peyton Reed-directed sequel to be a “lighter, brighter superhero movie powered by the effortless charisma of Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly, Ant-Man and The Wasp offers a much-needed MCU palate cleanser.”
That consensus echoes Matt Donato’s own thoughts on the film, after his review stated that Ant-Man and the Wasp, what with its zippy humor and boundless energy, is the Marvel movie we need right now – particularly in the aftermath of Infinity War and its unprecedented scope.
And while Ant-Man and the Wasp‘s RT score will likely ebb and flow as more reviews go live, the tiny-teeny sequel currently finds itself rubbing shoulders with Captain America: Civil War (91 percent) and The Winter Soldier (89 percent) on the all-time MCU charts. Not too shabby, eh?
Ant-Man and the Wasp touches down on July 6th, and it seems the sequel’s ties to Avengers 4 have finally been revealed…
