Marvel’s Ant-Man didn’t have a very big presence at San Diego Comic-Con, mostly because it’s still going through a bit of production trouble. The director and cast were brought onto the Hall H stage to talk a little about the film though, and while there they dropped a minor detail that is sure to get fans riled up: the script is not complete yet.
On top of that, filming is expected to begin in just a couple weeks, on August 18th, 2014. We recently heard that the Ant-Man would undergo more rewrites during production, but the fact that Evangeline Lilly hasn’t even seen a script for the film yet is definitely a bit of a red flag.
We’ve already speculated that Ant-Man may be barreling toward its summer 2015 release date a bit haphazardly, and this new update just adds fuel to that fire. This and the recent announcement that Patrick Wilson, Matt Gerard, and Kevin Weisman have left the film do not bode well for the troubled project, which was already causing quite a bit of a stir in the fan community. SDCC was Marvel’s big chance to quiet fan suspicion that this film is in trouble, but I really think they might have dropped the ball here.
As always, we’ll keep you posted on any new Ant-Man developments as they become available. For now, however, it looks like the film is moving ahead as scheduled, and will hit theaters on July 17th, 2015.
