Our Brand Is Crisis, the upcoming political film from Warner Bros. and Smokehouse Pictures, is beginning to take shape. We heard a while ago that Sandra Bullock would star and David Gordon Green would direct, and now, more casting news is surfacing. Earlier this week we heard that Billy Bob Thorton may take a role in the film, and today we have news that Anthony Mackie is on board.
Mackie, who recently had a very enjoyable role in Captain America The Winter Soldier, rarely turns in anything other than a top-notch performance. He’d be a solid addition to just about any project, and this one is no different. There’s still no word on which role the actor will be playing, but we’re confident that he’ll deliver.
Our Band Is Crisis is being adapted by Peter Straughan from Rachel Boynton’s 2006 documentary of the same name. That film focused on the U.S. strategists who have worked behind the scenes to mold opinions of voters in elections across the world. Their job is to change the way that a people view their leader and the way a leader reacts to their people. The documentary focused specifically on one group’s campaign to elect the President of Bolivia and the ramifications their actions had.
Beyond Mackie and Bullock, we still don’t have too much in the way of definite casting for the film. Scoot McNairy is reportedly involved, but like Mackie, there’s still no information about his role.
Our Brand Is Crisis still doesn’t have a release date announced, but stay tuned as we’ll be sure to keep you posted when we hear more.
