It sounds like Marvel’s Black Panther movie may have finally found its director. Back in October, we heard a rumor that the studio was interested in Ryan Coogler to take the helm for T’Challa’s solo big screen outing, but shortly after that seemed to be debunked by the same source. Well, apparently there was some truth to it because now Birth.Movies.Death reports that the Creed director is actually in negotiations with Marvel after all.
According to the site, both parties are still only in talks, but if things pan out, this will be a pretty big coup for Marvel. Coogler garnered much acclaim for Fruitvale Station, and by all accounts his Rocky spinoff, Creed, is really something special, so it was probably only a matter of time before one of the big superhero studios came a-callin’ – and from the looks of things, Marvel got the jump on Warner Bros.
Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa and is set to be released on February 16th, 2018. Tell us, would you like to see Coogler behind the camera? Sound off below and let us know.
