Relatively speaking, it’s been quite a long time since we paid a visit to Worlds of DC with Justice League.
Many left Zack Snyder’s team-up movie disappointed, while others were incensed by the theatrical cut, and have spent the past 10 months calling on Warner Bros. to release the so-called Snyder Cut.
However that may be, Warner is currently bracing for a one-two punch the likes of which we’ve never seen before – Aquaman and Shazam!
The former is due to release in December and will welcome viewers into the murky depths of Atlantis, where a colossal power struggle continues to fester beneath the waves. Shazam!, meanwhile, presents a superhero spin on the classic Big concept – young boy is transformed into an adult overnight – and it’s due to make land this coming April.
Both DC tentpoles also feature in the latest issue of Empire Magazine (h/t CBM), and we now have a few low-res scans to prove it:
The first is lifted from the depths of James Wan’s standalone Aquaman movie, which shows Arthur Curry and Mera – Jason Momoa and Amber Heard, respectively – staring up at what appears to be the projection of King Atlan. Perhaps this has something to do with the pair’s search for clues?
Either way, Shazam! has rolled out not one, not two, but three new shots of David F. Sandberg’s superhero epic, in which you’ll see Zachary Levi’s beefed-up hero standing next to his childhood friend (Jack Dylan Grazer). Last and certainly not least is Mark Strong as the villainous Doctor Sivana, who appears to be conjuring up some dark magic of his own.
Look for Aquaman and Shazam! to debut on December 21st, 2018 and April 5th, 2019, respectively.
