Arrival, Zootopia And Stranger Things Among Those Selected For The AFI’s Best Of 2016 List

Arrival, Atlanta, Zootopia and Netflix phenomenon Stranger Things have all made the cut for the Best of 2016 list compiled by the AFI.

December is so often a month of reflection in Hollywood. On the cusp of a new year – and with it, a whole slate of new content – critics and moviegoers alike tend to compile their ‘Best Of’ lists, cherry-picking the crème de la crème of cinema and television. 2016 is no different.

With Oscar season almost upon us, the American Film Institute has today rolled out its annual Top 10 list celebrating the very best movies and TV shows of the year. Among those selected are Arrival, Atlanta, Zootopia and Netflix phenomenon Stranger Things, while buzzworthy documentary O.J.: Made in America collected the coveted AFI Special Award.

Acclaimed Western Hell Or High Water is also in the mix – and deservedly so – while the critically-adorned La La Land continues to cement its status as this year’s Oscar frontrunner. Damien Chazelle’s old-timey musical has been scooping up nominations left, right and center, with the Critics’ Choice Awards being the most recent example.
