Ted Lasso is over. The show that claimed millions of hearts worldwide came to a close last week and now fans of the show and its titular main character have been left feeling a little bereft. So, in order to fill that Ted-shaped hole, they have apparently turned to another of actor Jason Sudeikis‘ works, and it’s definitely not giving warm fuzzy vibes so much.
Though Ted Lasso may be over, Sudeikis has a long body of work that fans can dip into to ease its passing. Luckily for them, one such film was just added to Netflix and it would seem people are latching on. We’re the Millers is a slapstick dark comedy about a group of four people who all live in the same building pretending to be a family so they can smuggle drugs across the Mexican border without arousing suspicion.
Sudeikis stars as David Clark, a drug dealer who is put in something of a bind after he loses the money he owes to his drug supplier. He is then forced into smuggling drugs across the Mexican border in order to repay his debt, and, knowing he will arouse more suspicion alone, he chooses to create a fake family comprising of his neighbors, a stripper stage-named Rose (Jennifer Aniston), 19-year-old runaway Casey (Emma Roberts), and his awkward 18-year-old neighbor Kenny (Will Poulter).
The film landed on Netflix this month and has already made its way onto the platform’s Top 10 chart, landing firmly in sixth place with 6.3 million hours watched. We’re the Millers is currently sandwiched between Shooter and Dirty Grandpa. It is fair to say that Sudeikis’ character in this film is a far cry from that of sweet, positive Ted, with Sudeikis playing the kind of role he is best known for.
You can catch We’re the Millers streaming on Netflix now.
