What Happens To The Original Avengers, Then?
As for the others, well, they’re still in existence, but like we said above, they never actually become Avengers. Instead, they just continue living their lives normally. So, for instance, Natasha never gets drafted into the KGB and Steve Rogers never goes to that recruiting office.
As the theory explains:
In this revised timeline, Tony Stark does not go to Afghanistan, so there’s no Iron Man and continue to live his life as a mass weapon manufacturer. (or he did visit Afghanistan but gets killed by the shrapnel) Steve Rogers does not go to the recruiting office, so there’s no Captain America and he stays in 1940s, finishing his life in his era Steve missed so much as some weak kid from Brooklyn. Natasha does not get drafted by KGB. Thor does not get exiled to Earth. Bruce Banner does not try to recreate Super Soldier Serum.
Both Tony and Steve, and other Avengers choose this themselves as the only way to ‘defeat’ Thanos, despite knowing that their existences will be gone.
Head spinning, yet? We know, it’s certainly a stretch, but also not entirely outside the realm of possibility and would be a cool way for Marvel to wrap up the franchise’s current arc and get rid of certain characters without having to kill them off.
After all, we know for certain that at least a few of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will be gone from the MCU by the time Avengers 4 ends, and simply re-writing their history so that they can still remain alive seems like a great way to handle the situation. At least, we certainly think so.
What are your thoughts on this latest fan theory, though? Could there be any truth to it? Or is it way too out there for you to buy into? As always, you can sound off down below.
