Peter Parker and Tony Stark. You know them, of course; their father-son dynamic helped anchor Spider-Man: Homecoming, before the two fought together side-by-side during Avengers: Infinity War.
Sadly, only one of those MCU favorites made it out alive, leaving the other (spoilers: it’s Stark) plumbing the depths of despair as Avengers 4 begins to loom over the horizon.
Word is Joe and Anthony Russo plan to incorporate a five-year time jump between each Avengers sequel so as to amplify the gut-wrenching impact of losing half of the fricking universe (more on that later), but this past weekend, Tony Stark himself, Robert Downey Jr., indulged in the Halloween festivities with two very special, Marvel-themed pumpkins.
And it should come as no surprise that they’re themed after Iron Man and Spider-Man:
There is a darker alternative to RDJ’s family-friendly photo – it’s the Internet, of course there’s a darker alternative – which comes to us by way of C. Robert Cargill (Doctor Strange). It’s essentially a major spoiler for the third act of Avengers: Infinity War, as it depicts Peter Parker crumbling into dust – much to the horror of his mentor Tony Stark, who in this scenario is actually a three-tiered pumpkin.

In other news, Katherine Langford of 13 Reasons Why has officially climbed aboard Avengers 4 in a mystery role, prompting numerous fan theories as to who she could be playing. Cassie Lang is one possible contender, as her involvement would dovetail with Ant-Man’s own story arc coming out of Ant-Man and the Wasp. But we can’t be so sure.
Avengers 4, meanwhile, brings the MCU to its knees on May 3rd, and we should have our first peek at Marvel’s 2019 sequel before the year’s end. Or so says Kevin Feige…
