Ruffalo was sat down with co-stars Chris Evans and Karen Gillan when they were asked what they knew about the film’s final cut. The three of them all admitted that they weren’t sure about everything that happened in the script due to all the secrecy around the project. In particular, Ruffalo claimed to have seen multiple scripts containing fake sections in order to throw him off, before giving one example.

“I didn’t even get a whole script of this movie,” Ruffalo said. “I don’t know why. The script I did get had dummy scenes in it. He [pointing to Evans] gets married in this!”

From the sound of things, Ruffalo is probably referring to one of the fake scenes. That being said, seeing how the actor himself admits to not knowing the full story, fans may not be entirely off base when they suggest that he just might have accidentally given away some genuine intel.

While Captain America seems to be the internet’s top pick for most likely hero to die in the Avengers: Infinity War sequel, one alternative theory for how Steve Rogers could end his run in the MCU is that he travels back in time and settles down with Peggy Carter, finally making good on his promise to take her on a date. From there, a wedding might be a natural conclusion to the character’s journey and Ruffalo may have indeed spoiled it. Or, like he says, the scene could just be from one of the fake scripts.

In any case, we’ll find out soon enough, as Avengers: Endgame will be with us on April 26th.
