There’s an intriguing symmetry to the first Avengers: Endgame trailer when it comes to the respective various fates of Iron Man and Ant-Man. While the teaser’s first minute gave birth a new line of speculation on how Tony Stark will escape his drift through space, the preview’s final moments effectively resolved the cliffhanger that Ant-Man and the Wasp ended on, confirming that Scott Lang will find some way of getting out of his own, similarly lonely predicament.
That being said, how exactly Ant-Man will make his escape from the Quantum Realm remains as big a mystery as ever, and the internet has offered plenty of suggestions, from Captain Marvel to Ghost to those time vortexes teased in Scott’s last film. A new theory on Reddit, however, has an alternative theory that may not seem particularly likely, but could leave you wishing it was true anyway:
“All theories are a lie, in fact Luis will look for the ant man on the terrace, he will take orders from Scott from within the quantum realm, and after a while get him out of there. After that, Luis will tell the story of the state of Thanos in that special way.”
We could ask how exactly Michael Peña’s character would know about the events around Thanos. And when the whole point of the Avengers movies is to bring together different parts of the MCU, we could also wonder if the writers would really send a supporting character from the Ant-Man films to rescue Scott. But instead, let’s just appreciate the image of Luis recounting the events of Avengers: Infinity War to an emotionally devastated Ant-Man, since we can only hope that the actual Endgame film resolves his dilemma in a way that’s even half as satisfying.
In any case, just as the speculation continues on how Tony Stark will get out of his sad situation, you can expect the Scott Lang theories to continue popping up until Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, 2019.
