Captain America is the focus of a new TV spot for Avengers: Endgame, which serves as one more reminder that while some people move on, Steve Rogers just isn’t the type.
Going by the various TV spots released in the last couple of days, Marvel seems pretty content at this point to share the same footage over and over again, rearranged in slightly different ways. Mind you, most fans probably aren’t complaining. As it stands, there’s very little about this movie’s plot that we can be sure of, but many filmgoers will likely be glad to go in knowing as little as possible about the adventure to come.
In any case, this latest preview, like most of the ones that came before it, is based around a few ominous lines from Captain America, culminating in the familiar slogan, “Whatever it takes.” It’s clear that Steve is willing to make the sacrifice play, and it’s widely predicted that the film just might take him up on that offer.
Many fans are practically mourning The First Avenger in advance, though he’s certainly not the only character who could be in the firing line. For instance, it’s pretty much assumed these days that Iron Man will be finishing his run with the Avengers: Infinity War sequel, though a heroic death and a quiet retirement each seem like realistic possibilities for how his story might end.
Meanwhile, Thor has been in this saga for even longer than Cap, and Bruce Banner’s inner conflict seems on the verge of coming to a head, suggesting that we could be seeing quite a few slots vacated by the end of next month’s release. But we’ll see who’s still around to usher in the MCU’s next era when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
