Proving that you can’t conquer (obliterate?) the world alone, Josh Brolin’s almighty Thanos will be bringing one or two villainous friends to the party when Avengers: Infinity War checks into theaters in May.
In his quest to round up all six Infinity Stones, the Mad Titan is expected to seek the assistance of the Black Order, a ragtag group of space oddities that all hold one thing in common: their bloodline can be traced back to Thanos.
That’s right, not unlike Nebula and Gamora – Karen Gillan and Zoe Saldana, respectively – the Black Order are the adopted children of Thanos, and wage war against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in his name. There are four in total (read: Corvus Glaive, Ebony Maw, Proxima Midnight, and Cull Obsidian), and thanks to the latest issue of Panini Vorschau, we now have another sneak peek at Infinity War‘s other villains.
First spotted by ComicBook.com, the magazine cover pays tribute to Infinity Gauntlet #1, the seminal comic drawn up by George Perez in 1991 – and you can check it out down below.
As for the Black Order, they’re essentially the deathly lieutenants of Thanos, and they only have one thing on their mind: absolute rule. Earth’s fate hangs in the balance, then, and it’s up to the Avengers to set aside old differences (see: Civil War) and put Marvel’s Mad Titan in his place.
And though it bears a striking resemblance to Justice League in the story department – a group of heroic individuals band together in the face of a common enemy (Thanos/Steppenwolf), who plans to use majestic MacGuffins (Infinity Stones/Mother Boxes) to wipe out humanity – Avengers: Infinity War is building on a legacy the stretches all the way back to 2008. And on May 4th, moviegoers will be able to bear witness to the MCU’s deadliest showdown…so far.
