The MCU’s crowning achievement is headed to Blu-ray and DVD – but not before Avengers: Infinity War becomes available on Digital HD later this month.
On July 31st, Marvel’s biggest ever movie ($2 billion worldwide) will be available to take home, and in the wake of yesterday’s incredible Blu-ray teaser, the Powers That Be have rolled out an extended version along with the confirmation that, yes, Infinity War‘s digital release will come packing a 30-minute director’s roundtable involving eight of the MCU’s filmmakers: Jon Favreau, Joss Whedon, James Gunn, Ryan Coogler, Peyton Reed, Thor: Ragnarok‘s Taika Waititi and Joe and Anthony Russo, the brains behind Avengers: Infinity War.
That particular featurette will see Marvel’s dream team reflect on “how their movies contribute to the MCU’s larger storytelling adventure,” and will no doubt be a must-watch for any passing fan of this hard-wired movie machine.
All of the usual special features will be included in Avengers: Infinity War‘s home video release, too – you know, aside from that alleged Thanos cut that began doing the rounds online last week – which equates to around two hours’ worth of bonus content.
Deleted scenes include “Happy Knows Best,” “Hunt for the Mind Stone,” and “The Guardians Get Their Groove Back,” while there’s also a gag reel dedicated to those moments when our superheroes made super gaffes. And, frankly, we’ll take anything we can get in order to ease the agonizing wait for Avengers 4.
By our calculations, there are precisely 297 days standing between now and May 3rd, 2019. The Avengers: Infinity War Blu-ray release is much closer, thank the heavens, and will occur on August 14th – two weeks after it becomes available on digital platforms.
