“Strange alchemy.”
That’s the term used by the Russo Brothers to describe the unexpected chemistry that tends to blossom between many of the leading characters that make up Avengers: Infinity War.
From Black Panther to Spider-Man, Okoye to Iron Man, Bucky Barnes to the blonde Black Widow, Joe and Anthony Russo have assembled an ensemble cast for the ages, and with little over a month to go until Infinity War‘s long-anticipated debut, the directors have pumped out a series of incredible character posters that effectively bring a 10-year vision – a 10-year dream the likes of which we’ve never seen before – into sharp focus. So without further ado, here are your latest (and potentially greatest?) one-sheets for Infinity War thus far:
Conspicuous by his absence? Hawkeye…again. Sure, Jeremy Renner’s sharpshooter may have already been confirmed for Avengers 4 – hence those online rumors about a possible evolution into Ronin to coincide with the sequel’s much-touted Yakuza sequence – but the fact that Infinity War‘s promotional campaign has completely shunned the man known as Clint Barton tells us one of two things: either the Russo Brothers are saving a twist up their collective sleeve, or Hawkeye’s time in the MCU really is coming to an end. We’re inclined to believe it’s the former.
One way or another, the Avengers plan to assemble once more on April 27th, by which point we ought to have a better reading on Infinity War and its box office projections. Early estimates indicate that a $200m-plus opening weekend is well within reach, leaving many to wonder how high Joe and Anthony Russo’s crossover will climb. $2 billion, perhaps? Time will tell.
