“After my planet died, I had nothing. No one. And I thought I never would. I was all right with that; I had a new vocation. And then I found you, and at my side, you became the fiercest woman in the galaxy.”
That’s the Mad Titan there, regaling a grown-up Gamora with his tales of woe. His homeworld of Titan is no more, and his one shot at salvation lies with the Infinity Stones, ancient cosmic ingots capable of controlling a unique aspect of existence – so the Time Stone, for instance, grants its owner with the ability to see the future and alter the past, hence Doctor Strange’s remarkably bleak prophecy at the tail-end of Avengers: Infinity War.
Speaking of which, now that Marvel’s star-studded epic is available across digital platforms (Blu-ray and DVD on August 14th), a bevy of fresh Infinity War content has graced the interwebs, beginning with an extended and frankly hilarious blooper reel and a HD clip of Spider-Man’s final moments. We’re not crying, you’re crying!
The latest MCU-related nugget takes the form of an Avengers: Infinity War deleted scene – specifically one dedicated to the fraught father-daughter relationship between Thanos and Gamora.
It’s pretty clear that Zoe Saldana’s Guardian has some daddy issues, as she lashes out at Thanos for his twisted logic and wicked ways – he did hold her prisoner, after all. Granted, that’s nothing compared to the Mad Titan’s treatment of Nebula, who is physically and mentally tortured ad nauseam until she gives up the location of the Soul Stone.
For this particular deleted scene, though, it’s all about Thanos and Gamora, and it’s fair to say that the pair’s troubled past helped shape the emotional heart of Avengers: Infinity War. Will they cross paths again during Avengers 4, though? We’ll find out on May 3rd, 2019.
