Since the release of Avengers: Infinity War, the MCU appears to have reached a plateau in its progression through Phase 3, with what seems like a hefty wait until Ant-Man and the Wasp (especially for the UK), Captain Marvel and Avengers 4. In the meantime, fans have got 10 years worth of Marvel movies to wade through and are upturning connections that link the films in the series left, right and centre.
The latest of these discoveries comes from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, where the Guardians leave the captured Nebula in the care of Rocket Raccoon. What the former says could be construed as a stand-alone comment with no further inferences being made, but once Avengers: Infinity War has been experienced, it does invite interpretation as to the levels of foreshadowing.
Don’t just take our word for it, though. See for yourself:
Oh, if we only knew then what we know now. Thanos’ Snap of Doom wiped out half of the universe in an instant, reducing our heroes to mere Marvel molecules and the fate of the Guardians of the Galaxy was arguably one of the biggest shocks. After sacrificing Gamora to claim the Soul Stone, the Mad Titan saw off Star-Lord, Drax, Mantis and *sniff-sniff* Groot in his bid to ease over-population. The ones that are left? The sometime nefarious Nebula and the Fox, sorry, Trash Panda, sorry, Rocket Racoon.
Was this just a mere coincidence, though, or some serious full-on foreshadowing of the events that would ultimately take place in Avengers: Infinity War? What do you think? Do let us know in the comments section down below.
