Spare a thought for the sharp-shooting Clint Barton.
Ever since Marvel Studios began promoting Avengers: Infinity War and its 2019 follow-up, Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye has been strangely absent from most, if not all of the marketing material. No trailer scenes. No posters. Nada.
It’s created quite the buzz online, as fans scramble to find any clues as to where Hawkeye has been hiding. He’s the archer of the Avengers and a true fan favorite, so it should come as no surprise that his absence has ruffled some feathers. Because even after Infinity War‘s recent media dump, Renner’s character is still nowhere to be found, and while that’ll likely remain the case right up until April 27th, one curious Redditor has unearthed a new fan poster that turns the spotlight on Hawkeye, the man the Avengers forgot.
It’s certainly an understated mock-up of Hawkeye and his trusty quiver, even if the credits read like broken English. Also, who knew Hawkeye would reach 3DS and Sony’s PS4?
On a more serious note, the logo ought to be familiar to those fans of Matt Fraction’s comic series, while there have also been rumblings that Hawkeye is on the verge of becoming Ronin.
Initially dreamed up by comic book duo Brian Michael Bendis and Joe Quesada, fans are speculating that Hawkeye will soon make the transition to what is essentially another alias for Barton, one that comes into play soon after the events of Marvel’s Civil War. Granted, Joe and Anthony Russo are keeping things under lock and key – and rightly so – but we’re hopeful that Hawkeye will get his dues when Avengers: Infinity War rolls around next month. Or, failing that, the super-secret Avengers 4 in 2019.
And it all begins on April 27th.
