So long Mjolnir; hello Jarnbjorn?
Coming out of Thor: Ragnarok and its grand, show-stopping finale, many assumed that the God of Thunder will be wielding a new weapon in time for Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War. It’s by no means official, of course; Thor’s only involvement in the sequel’s initial teaser was a last-minute cameo involving the Guardians of the Galaxy (“who the hell are you guys?”), but a newly-uncovered LEGO set is here to stoke the speculation.
First spotted by Super Bro Movies (with a tip of the hat to Screen Rant), this toy set in question goes by the name “The Search For Thor’s Weapon,” leading us to believe that that little tiny armament is, in fact, Jarnbjorn. It’s the Wrecker of Worlds; a Dwarven-forged battle axe that first featured in Marvel’s comics back when Thor was deemed unworthy to wield his precious hammer.
Of course, this is by no means the first time that the name ‘Jarnbjorn’ has cropped up online; leading up to Ragnarok‘s release, Chris Hemsworth himself hinted at a potential upgrade for his Norse god. Couple this with the Infinity War LEGO set (see below) and it looks like the mighty axe known as Jarnbjorn will feature after all.
Thor isn’t the only Avenger poised for an upgrade, either. In the aftermath of Spider-Man: Homecoming, we know Peter Parker will be suiting up as the Iron Spider, while we fully expect Tony Stark to be packing some enhancements of his own when the lights go down on May 4th. Additionally, Captain America was seen wielding some nifty tech from Wakanda, though surely it’s only a matter of time before Steve Rogers picks up that famous shield once more. Or, you know, passes the mantle onto Bucky.
Speaking of Barnes, there have been rumblings that the Winter Soldier will appear via cameo in 2018’s Black Panther, which will go down as the final MCU standalone movie before Avengers: Infinity War. And how exciting is that?
