Earlier today, Marvel unleashed the latest (and possibly greatest?) trailer for Avengers: Infinity War. Unlike the last few promos, this one came packed with a ton of new footage and was truly a treat. From Cap and Bucky’s long-awaited reunion to some epic Wakanda battle scenes, there was a lot to dissect. But what was perhaps the most interesting moment was a glimpse, albeit a brief one, of Thanos and his Infinity Gauntlet.
It’s no secret that Josh Brolin’s Mad Titan is going to be causing some serious trouble for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and if this most recent preview is anything to go by, Iron Man and co. are in for a real tough fight. And that’s because we see Thanos with four Infinity Stones. As you can tell by the screenshot in the gallery below (which also includes some photos that dropped earlier this week), he’s got the Space Stone (glowing blue), the Power Stone (glowing purple), the Reality Stone (glowing red) and the Soul Stone (glowing orange).
Yes, you read that right. The elusive and much discussed Soul Stone has finally made an appearance, and fans are freaking out about it.
Of course, just because we actually catch a glimpse of the Soul Stone here doesn’t put an end to all those theories about where it is or who has it. For months now, there’s been furious speculation over its location and what form it may take – ranging from Adam Warlock possesses it to a pretty out there theory that the Soul Stone is Tony. Unfortunately, we don’t have any clear answers on the matter just yet, but at the very least, we know that Thanos has successfully located it.
Speaking of which, it seems he’s been successful in rounding up most of them, with only the Mind Stone and Time Stone not in his possession here. We know the former resides with Vision in Wakanda, which is presumably where the Mad Titan is heading, while the latter is probably still safe with Doctor Strange. Then again, considering those scenes in the last trailer showing Ebony Maw torturing the Sorcerer Supreme, it may not stay that way for long.
Regardless, we can now confirm that Thanos will be pretty damn powerful when he descends upon Wakanda and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will definitely have their work cut out for them when Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27th.
