After a roughly fourth month-long theatrical run, Avengers: Infinity War officially docked itself onto home video last Tuesday, and with it came a slew of bonus content, highlighted by an audio commentary track and, of course, the obligatory gag reel. Although, as you’ll see in the VFX featurette below, not every piece of paramount behind the scenes footage made the cut.
It’s no secret Avengers: Infinity War featured some top-notch VFX, including but not limited to Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his Black Order. Remarkably, however, it would appear that a significant portion of what we thought existed naturally, was actually rooted in make-believe.
Courtesy of a before and after VFX reel posted to YouTube by NowCentric, the absolutely sublime work of the visual effect studio Rise is now on full display for the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe to see, and you can check it out for yourself below.
During the roughly two-minute and forty-five second featurette, not only can you see practically the entirety of the titular supergroup artificially adjusted in some manner, but evidently, Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), while sitting in an actual cruiser, weren’t technically in New York City.
Again, while the VFX featurette is not included on the physical release, make sure you snag a copy of Avengers: Infinity War regardless, as it’s chock-full of behind the scenes goodies, including deleted scenes and more than a few informative featurettes.
As for the next time you can catch the titular supergroup on the big screen – what’s left of them, anyway – Nick Fury will be lighting it up alongside Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) in Captain Marvel next year, and the rest of ‘em, should be returning to life in time for Avengers 4.
