It’s not too much of a stretch to say that Avengers: Infinity War is a film – nay, a cinematic event – that will be discussed for many more years to come. And it’s all thanks to the creative ingenuity underpinning the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
From humble beginnings, Marvel Studios built a carefully constructed masterpiece that now spans 20 blockbuster features, with Black Panther, Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp headlining the studio’s offerings for 2018. So it’s small wonder why the past eight months have been celebrated as a defining era for the MCU.
On the one hand, Kevin Feige and his crack team of producers are building towards Phase 4 of the MCU, which will, through time, swing its doors open to the X-Men and the Fantastic Four. There are still some logistical issues to be considered, but such a momentous crossover has already stoked excitement across the four corners of the Internet.
Before all that comes the finale to the ongoing Phase 3, as Marvel still has Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 coming down the pike in 2019. And if the wait is simply too much to bear, we have some good news; over on Reddit, one eagle-eyed fan has spotted a VFX reel for Avengers: Infinity War.
It’s a cool and thorough breakdown of the movie’s biggest scenes, as we see Gamora and Thanos walk down memory lane so that the Mad Titan can explain (justify?) his attempt to bring some semblance of balance to the universe.
Spoilers: he succeeds, which leaves Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in quite the pickle as we approach Avengers 4. They certainly have their backs to the wall, but will Iron Man and his remaining allies be able to manipulate time and bring Thanos down to size? We’ll find out on May 3rd, 2019.
