Earlier tonight, Marvel dropped a bomb when they released an exciting look behind the scenes of Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Infinity War. It didn’t arrive with any new footage, which was understandable given that the film just entered production, but it did reveal some interesting new concept art showing off Thor, Rocket, Thanos and more. That aside though, it was the comments made by the cast and crew who were interviewed here which really got us going.
The studio’s upcoming blockbuster is going to be their biggest project to date, that much is sure. Set to feature nearly every breathing character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Avengers: Infinity War is going to be a film for the ages. All the stops are being pulled out here and you better believe that it’s going to be something pretty special. That much was confirmed in the video up above, when Joe Russo noted that it will be an “event like no one has ever seen on film before.”
Those are bold words to be sure, but in some sense, he’s probably right. After all, no one has ever done what Marvel’s doing here with their cinematic universe. Yes, other studios are now starting to jump on the bandwagon and trying to copy the MCU, but Marvel was really the first to do it and do it properly, and Infinity War has technically been in the making since 2008’s Iron Man, which kicked everything off. 10 years it’s taken us to get to this point. Think about it. That’s a decade’s worth of films, stories, characters and events all leading up to this. It truly is unprecedented.
Of course, now the question is can Marvel possibly deliver on the immense amount of hype surrounding the Russo’s film? Honestly, we’re leaning towards yes. The studio hasn’t let us down yet and with all the effort, thought and care, not to mention money, being poured into Avengers: Infinity War, it doesn’t seem like it’ll be anything less than spectacular. The fact that so many characters are being crammed in here may threaten to derail it, but we’re feeling fairly confident that the filmmakers have got all the logistics figured out.
What do you think, though? Will Avengers: Infinity War truly be unlike anything we’ve seen on film before? Sound off in the usual place with your thoughts!
