Entertainment Weekly has unveiled the first official stills from next year’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice as part of its annual Comic-Con Preview Double Issue, including our first look at Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor (with hair!) and Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince.
Speaking with EW, Ben Affleck compared his version of the Caped Crusader to the one found in the pages of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns:
“He’s on the verge of being swallowed up by the anger and the rage that we see haunt this character in the other manifestations of it. But this guy is further down the line and has become more embittered and cynical.”
The photos don’t hold too many easter eggs, though it’s certainly interesting to consider the circumstances that might bring Affleck’s Bruce Wayne together with Prince/Wonder Woman.
[zerg]The promo art thus far has seen Wonder Woman in full warrior regalia, ready to jump into battle with Bats and Superman (Henry Cavill). But the new image suggests she’ll spend a significant amount of time out of costume as well, leading us to wonder how quickly the film will weave her into the narrative.
Another big question is when in the movie Luthor will end up losing that unruly-looking head of hair. Or could that be a wig designed to fool the general public?
All will be revealed when Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25, 2016. And much will surely be revealed next week when Warner Bros. and DC Comics assemble the superhero blockbuster’s stacked cast in Comic-Con’s Hall H for a hotly anticipated presentation.
