Whenever there’s a major blockbuster that’s taken years to reach the screen, speculation usually rears its head in advance. For Warner Bros., its upcoming superhero smackdown Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has been the topic of much chatter, both negative and positive. In the last few weeks, conflicting reports from insiders claim the movie is in dire straits… and that it’s also phenomenal, with a scene-stealing Wonder Woman. So, which is it?
Thankfully we won’t have too long to wait to make up our own minds, but for the studio it’s all about the finances. If the movie bombs, that will no doubt cast a shadow over the entire DC Film Universe. Thankfully, according to early tracking, there’s nothing to worry about in that regard.
[zergpaid]Confirming earlier rumors that the film is headed to a $100-140 domestic opening weekend, Deadline reports that the film is set to rake in at least $120 million in the US, and a whopping $300-$340 million worldwide. These figures are, of course, estimates based on early ticket sales. With the movie being rolled out onto 30,000 screens worldwide, expect these numbers to keep rising.
Starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams and Jesse Eisenberg, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice opens worldwide on March 25.
Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
