We’re now exactly 16 months away from seeing Princess Diana of Themyscira defend Earth in the year that brought us Ghostbusters, Footloose and “Like a Virgin,” but Wonder Woman 1984 has already inspired its share of endearingly retro fan art.
One Reddit user last month brought us a nostalgic reworking of a promotional image from the DC flick, changing the character and the decade to match the upcoming ‘90s-set superhero film Captain Marvel. Now, Instagram user BossLogic – who has a reputation for uploading creative, franchise-inspired artwork – has brought us this amusing conception of what a young Bruce Wayne might have looked like in 1984.
As you can see, Ben Affleck’s rocking some sweet sideburns and an Adidas tracksuit while staying energized with a can of Jolt Cola (a drink created in 1985, but let’s assume the DCEU got it one year earlier). And then, of course, you have that red little fanny pack, emblazoned with the old-fashioned yellow-and-black Batman logo.
So overall, a pretty cool design and a welcome follow-up to BossLogic’s ‘80s makeover of Henry Cavill’s Superman, posted a day prior and also seen in the gallery above. But while we currently have no reason to expect that Wonder Woman will actually run into the Caped Crusader or the Man of Steel in her next solo film, we do know that she’ll be butting heads with her next big foe, Cheetah.
We recently got our first look at Kristen Wiig as Barbara Ann Minerva, aka Cheetah, and though the image showed the character still dressed in everyday, non-villainous attire, we’ll hopefully get to see her in full, ferocious Cheetah mode when the first footage from 1984 plays this month at the San Diego Comic-Con.
We still have a lot to learn about Wonder Woman 1984 before it hits on November 1st, 2019, but in the meantime, DC’s bringing us Aquaman, which swims into theaters on December 21st, 2018.
