With his role as Batman in the DCEU taking up most of the Ben Affleck-related headlines lately, you’d be forgiven for forgetting about some of the actor’s other projects. Aside from Live by the Night, Big Ben also has a film called The Accountant coming out, and today Warner Bros. has premiered the first trailer for it.
The action thriller, directed by Warrior‘s Gavin O’Connor, sees Affleck as a, you guessed it, mild-mannered accountant. However, he’s not just any accountant – he moonlights as an assassin once the sun goes down. And from the looks of the trailer, quite a deadly one at that.
Set to Radiohead’s haunting “Everything In Its Right Place,” the footage here mostly focuses on the character’s unconventional origin story, but we do get some brief glimpses of Affleck fighting his way through opponents and bringing out his darker side. It’s hard to tell exactly what kind of tone the film is going for, but our interest is certainly piqued. After all, it will be nice to see the actor taking a break from the cape and cowl before he suits up again for Justice League.
The Accountant also stars Anna Kendrick, J.K. Simmons, Jon Bernthal and Jefferey Tambor, and will shoot its way into theatres on October 14th.
