Though a recent report alleged that Billy Dee Williams’ role in Star Wars: Episode IX may not amount to much more than an extended cameo, the actor is certainly putting a lot of time and effort into the return of Lando Calrissian, taking to Twitter once more with another video of intense physical training.
Tagging personal trainer Gunnar Peterson in the caption, the video sees Williams work out his legs and engage in some weightlifting while a tune fit for an ‘80s montage plays on the soundtrack.
Push harder than yesterday if you want a different tomorrow. @Gunnar kicking my ass💪🏾 pic.twitter.com/0shHLaLVKz

While we probably shouldn’t expect anything too physical from Williams’ performance later this year, the actor still looks to be in pretty good shape at the age of 81, and you can bet there are a lot of fans who’ll be pleased to see the star wearing the cape again after years of absence from the series.
Naturally, Lucasfilm has been keeping the details of Lando’s involvement in Episode IX under wraps, though a concept art leak from over the weekend at least gave us a glimpse of the character wearing what looks like the same yellow shirt sported by Donald Glover in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Meanwhile, one unusually persistent rumor alleges that the film will see Lando with a daughter, played by Naomi Ackie. Granted, we’ve yet to see any solid evidence to back up the claim, but in the hearsay’s defense, the canonical 2018 novel Last Shot heavily implies that the character started a family a few years after the events of Return of the Jedi. Regardless, we’ll find out what J.J. Abrams has in store for Lando when Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters on December 20th, 2019.
