Marvel Studios is nearing the end of its biggest year to date, and the Hollywood Film Awards is recognizing the achievements of the MCU with a number of honors for Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War.
As well as winning in the production design category, Ryan Coogler’s acclaimed work will be taking home the top prize for live-action film, whereas Infinity War has nabbed the award for visual effects. And as awards season approaches, you can imagine that these respective honors will fit right into a wider pattern of Black Panther getting the major accolades and the Russo Brothers’ film being decorated for its technical achievements.
Elsewhere on the list of winners, Incredibles 2 will be receiving the Hollywood animation award, while First Man is being recognized for its music and editing. All honorees will receive their prizes in a ceremony that’ll be held at the Beverly Hilton on November 4th.
But to take things back to the Marvel movies, both films have already won majorly at the box office, leaving a lot of filmgoers anxious for some sequels. Sure enough, though T’Challa perished at the end of Infinity War, Coogler is already confirmed to be working on Black Panther 2.
Meanwhile, the year-long gap between the Russos’ last movie and the upcoming Avengers 4 has essentially condemned the fans to twelve months of agony, with the internet flooding with an endless array of leaks, theories, and speculative art. It’s safe to say that this Phase 3 finale has raised the bar for MCU hype, and once that all-important first trailer drops within the next month or so, the fans won’t be getting any calmer.
The still-untitled sequel to Avengers: Infinity War will be hitting theaters on May 3rd, 2019, and it has some ridiculously high expectations to live up to.
