Things Get Bloody In Red Band Machete Kills Trailer

I am fully aware that there are some people (apparently the guys over at The Playlist, for instance) who are not all about Robert Rodriguez's sequel to Machete, the aptly named Machete Kills. I realize that and I'm OK with that. But if you're not into it, then I hope you also realize just how really, incredibly wrong you are.

I am fully aware that there are some people (apparently the guys over at The Playlist, for instance) who are not all about Robert Rodriguez’s sequel to Machete, the aptly named Machete Kills. I realize that and I’m OK with that. But if you’re not into it, then I hope you also realize just how really, incredibly wrong you are.

If you’re the audience for Machete Kills, you do not need one more trailer or clip to convince you. If you’re not the audience, then the latest red band trailer will certainly not make you change your mind. But it’s still great to see Machete (Danny Trejo) and his team swearing, shouting and fighting down and dirty.

The plot of Machete Kills involves the vigilante Machete being hired by the President (Charlie Sheen) and heading back into action against Mel Gibson’s nasty arms dealer, or something like that. I don’t really know and I don’t really care. I want some mayhem and I want it now.

Mayhem is exactly what we get in the red band trailer. Blood, swearing, Sofia Vergara apparently armed with more than just boob-guns, Michelle Rodriguez punching ladies, Mel Gibson being … well, really creepy, actually. It’s all what we expect from a Robert Rodriguez film: exploitation and satire at its finest. Granted that Machete Kills is unlikely to win any awards for subtlety or tasteful humor, but what exactly do we expect?

So, basically, if you saw Machete and loved it, then it’s likely you’re going to be front and center for Machete Kills. If you saw Machete and hated it, I feel very sorry for you.

Check out the red band trailer below, along with a short clip featuring Amber Heard and Danny Trejo. Then you can let us know what you think in the comments.

Machete Kills comes to theatres October 11. You know you want to see it.
