Having gone through another relatively long gap between 007 films, many fans have been waiting patiently for any hint of production news in regards to Bond 24. Well, that wait is nearly over, as we now have word that principle photography for Daniel Craig’s fourth outing as MI6’s premier super spy will begin on December 6, 2014.
Before shooting actually commences, though, director Sam Mendes will have the main cast together at Pinewood for a table reading of the final script. Casting is not complete yet though, as there are still a few roles that have yet to be filled (or at least announced), including the main Bond girl, the villains, and other feminine interests for 007. That’s quite a bit of casting to wrap up in the next couple months.
We also still have next to nothing in terms of information about the plot for the film, but there have been screen tests of an array of Scandinavian actresses for a secondary Bond girl role. Rumor has it though that the main Bond girl will be British. Furthermore, we recently heard that Mendes wants a physically imposing henchman, reminiscent of iconic ones from past films.
December is a month later than Skyfall started shooting for a similar release date, so perhaps there will be less traveling across the globe for Bond this time around. We do know that as far as locations for this film, there’s been word of scenes in Austria, a car chase in Rome, and a scene in Morocco. Pinewood Studios is the location for 007’s studio shooting.
Returning cast members from Skyfall include Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny, Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner and Ben Whishaw as Q. Beyond that, any firm casting details haven’t been revealed, but it’s worth noting that Chiwetel Ejiofor has repeatedly been rumored for a role in the film.
Bond 24 is scheduled to release October 24, 2015 in the UK and November 6, 2015 in the US.
