Hot on the heels of yesterday’s enticing preview teaser, Focus Features has debuted the bone-chilling, full-length trailer for the upcoming horror threequel, Insidious: Chapter 3.
Promising terrifying scares and yet more sleepiness nights for us helpless viewers, the footage gives us our first good look at Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) doing what she does best — throwing caution to the wind and attempting to communicate with restless spirits found in The Further.
Given that the third entry into the franchise is very much a sequel, we understand that Rainier’s psychic will have a larger role to play in the film’s proceedings, as she goes out of her way to help a young family who have found themselves between the crosshairs of a malevolent spirit. And so, Rainier must venture into the parallel realm of butterflies and rainbows (yeah, right) in order to save the daughter’s life — a role that has been filled by Stefanie Scott.
With James Wan off overseeing the high-octane action of Fast and Furious 7 — not to mention The Conjuring 2, which cropped back onto his radar quite recently — Insidious: Chapter 3 will be directed by Leigh Whannell (co-creator of the series), who helped shepherd the horrifying IP past the veil and into the human world back in 2010.
Focus Features has pegged Insidious: Chapter 3 for release on May 29th, 2015. Check out the plot summary below and the trailer above and let us know if you think this franchise will be able to scare us to death once again.
The newest chapter in the terrifying horror series is written and directed by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell. This chilling prequel, set before the haunting of the Lambert family, reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl (Stefanie Scott) who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity.
