Previously known as Adam Jones (Cooper’s skilled protagonist) and Chef, the studio opted to scratch off the later moniker to avoid confusion with Jon Faverau’s excellent directorial effort, which charts a similar fall from grace set against the backdrop of working in the food industry. Debuting the trailer to NBC’s Today show, Cooper himself introduces the clip of the drama, giving us a look at his troubled expert who strives for greatness while keeping up with the break-neck speed of life in the kitchen.

Running a high-profile restaurant will merely be the context, though, as this trailer appears to indicate that Cooper’s Adam Jones has – or indeed is dealing with – some form of a drug problem, with the narrator alluding to addiction. “I don’t want my restaurant to be a place where you come and eat,” Cooper’s protagonist utters to a colleague. “I want people to sit at that table and be sick with longing.”

Directed by John Wells with a script from Locke‘s Steven Knight and Michael Kalesniko, Burnt will see the Oscar nominated actor reunite with his American Sniper co-star Sienna Miller, while Uma Thurman, Daniel Bruhl, Emma Thompson, Lily James, Matthew Rhys, Omar Sy, Jamie Dornan and Ex Machina‘s Alicia Vikander round out the star-studded line-up.

Burnt will have Bradley Cooper’s chef make the first steps toward a triumphant comeback when Wells’ culinary pic opens on October 23.

Chef Adam Jones (Cooper) had it all – and lost it. A two-star Michelin rockstar with the bad habits to match, the former enfant terrible of the Paris restaurant scene did everything different every time out, and only ever cared about the thrill of creating explosions of taste. To land his own kitchen and that third elusive Michelin star he’ll need the best of the best on his side, including the beautiful Helene (Sienna Miller of Foxcatcher and American Sniper).
