Yondu, Mantis and Karen Gillan’s Nebula come together in the latest behind-the-scenes pic for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Coming to us by way of Chris Pratt’s personal Facebook feed – James Gunn isn’t the only member of the team who knows his way around social media – the image below finds that trio, arguably the three key supporting players of Guardians 2, hanging out on set in full costume “waiting to Guardian the Galaxy.”
There’s also mention of the sequel’s IMAX sequences, after James Gunn told ComicBook that the approach to Vol. 2 is slightly different than the first film in that it’ll switch between 2:35 and 1:89 aspect ratios. All throughout production, the director has told fans that IMAX is really the platform on which Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 shines best, and when a film comes packing one of the biggest VFX shots of all-time – Marvel drafted in some top-tier talent to render Kurt Russell’s Ego, the Living Planet – it almost goes without saying that Gunn’s galactic sequel is a perfect fit for the IMAX format.
Per Comic Book: “Yeah, we’re switching aspect ratios just like did on the first movie. This time it’s a little more planned out ahead of time, but we switch between 2:35 and 1:89 aspect ratios.”
Over the next few months, those who like to view movies on the biggest screen possible will be a little spoilt for choice, what with Transformers: The Last Knight and Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk cramming in plenty of IMAX sequences, too.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is the first of three Marvel movies on course for a 2017 release, and following this morning’s spectacular trailer reveal, excitement is beginning to build for Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok. Look for that one to open on November 3rd.
