Assassin’s Creed is right around the corner, and yet another clip from the highly anticipated video game adaptation has now found its way online. This one features a scene which will be instantly familiar to fans of the franchise, as Michael Fassbender takes a daring leap of faith. Whether or not he’ll land in a stack of hay remains to be seen, but we’re pretty sure that he’ll come out of it alright.
What’s particularly interesting about this though is how it explores the use of the Animus. That’s the device which will be used on Callum Lynch to make him relive his ancestor’s past, but it looks like Assassin’s Creed will toy with the idea of exactly how much control he has over those memories. That’s something the games have glossed over because, well, it’s easier that way, but it seems like the movie is going to explore that in a much more satisfying manner.
Whether or not Assassin’s Creed will be the first truly great video game adaptation is hard to say at this stage, but there’s no denying that it looks pretty damn good. Then again, so did Warcraft, and we all know how that turned out, right?
Unfortunately, the odds are already stacked against Fassbender’s film at the box office, due to how close it opens to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, so even if it does end up being good, there’s definitely a chance that it’ll flop. Hopefully that won’t be the case, but either way, it’s going to be an interesting couple of weeks for Assassin’s Creed, that’s for sure.
