Captain Marvel is now just under a month away from reaching cinemas, and so far, Marvel Studios has managed to generate more than enough hype around Carol Danvers’ solo debut, which managed to land a place on the ‘Most Anticipated Films of 2019’ lists of quite a few polls and publications.
Still, if you’re waiting for the early reactions to come in before deciding whether or not to make that trip to theaters, you may be interested to hear that the social media embargo for Captain Marvel lifts on Tuesday, February 19th at 9:30pm PST, before the review embargo lifts on Tuesday, March 5th at 6:00am PST. That means we have just over a week to wait before Twitter begins flooding with responses to Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s upcoming film, and two more weeks after that before the publications have their say.
Though time will tell if Captain Marvel can continue the MCU’s favorable run with the critics, we’ve already seen a few early screening reactions surface online, and as it stands, the consensus paints an encouraging picture, with viewers having some enthusiastic words to say about the movie’s titular heroine, as well as her cat Goose.
Things are looking pretty good for Marvel Studios’ next feature on a commercial level, too. With the feature boasting strong advance ticket sales from the get go, one recent projection had the movie tracking for a domestic opening weekend gross of $160 million, beating out the likes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Thor: Ragnarok over the same three-day period. We’ll find out if Captain Marvel can live up to the hype when the film hits theaters on March 8th, 2019.
