With 17 films under its belt and counting, you’d be forgiven if you can’t quite remember everything that’s happened in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date.
It’s an unfortunate position to be in, however, as the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War will serve as the culmination of the entire franchise and with one more movie to go before it arrives (Black Panther), that means fans will have to recall the events of 18 different flicks if they’re to be fully in the know for Joe and Anthony Russo’s superhero extravaganza.
Thankfully, there’s still time to catch up, or even give yourself a quick refresher, and as the graphic in the gallery down below points out, if you watch one MCU film per week starting from January 2018, you’ll actually have completed viewing the entire franchise thus far by the week Infinity War releases. If you do the math, it works out, and fans looking to brush up on the events of the Marvel Cinematic Universe may want to give this a try come the new year.
Now, while it’s suggested here that you watch the films in chronological order, you can definitely change that. For instance, many would advise kicking things off with Captain America: The First Avenger and then following along with the rest of the movies in the order of where their story fits onto the MCU timeline. Granted, that’s a bit more difficult to plan out, but it could make for a more rewarding viewing experience.
No matter how you choose to run through the franchise though, you’re guaranteed a good time and whether you’re a newbie or just need a refresher before Earth’s Mightiest Heroes assemble once more, we definitely suggest giving this a try and choosing one MCU movie to watch each week starting in January.
After all, like we said above, Avengers: Infinity War is the culmination of a ten-year arc and with so many characters and plotlines all converging, you’d best be caught up so nothing goes over your head.
