The Flash just can’t seem to catch a break. The troubled production has gone through multiple screenwriters and directors and if that wasn’t enough, star Ezra Miller is in serious hot water after a video surfaced last week of him choking a fan.
His future as the titular superhero is now in doubt, but it seems Warner Bros. is still pushing ahead with the film regardless. In fact, sources close to WGTC – the same ones who said a Green Lantern show is coming to HBO Max and Diana will have her Golden Eagle armor in Wonder Woman 1984 – tell us that the project will likely move forward with or without Miller in the lead. And should things continue on, then the studio has their eye on Cate Blanchett for a villainous role.
She’d play a female version of Mirror Master, we’re told, a character described as someone with considerable technical expertise and skills involving the use of mirrors. Mirror Master can use mirrors to produce effects such as hypnotism, invisibility, holograms and the ability to travel through dimensions.
The villain sounds like a cross between Mysterio and Doctor Strange for all of you Marvel fans, and though they’re usually portrayed as a man, we’ve recently seen an actress take the role via Efrat Dor on The CW’s The Flash. It doesn’t really matter if it’s a man or a woman for two-time Oscar winner Blanchett, though, as she’s already played a man in a movie and when it comes to tackling villains, based on her work as Hela in Thor: Ragnarok, she’d be a great fit.
Again, it’s still unclear what will happen with Ezra Miller and if he’ll be recast or not, but either way, it sounds like Warner Bros. still intends to get The Flash made and we’d be all for seeing the aforementioned actress snag one of the villainous roles in the film.
